Rheumatoid Factor (RF)
RF-LTFor In Vitro Diagnostic Use
Intended Use
RF-LT is an in vitro assay for the quantitative determination of rheumatoid factor activity in serum or plasma.
Method
Latex Immunoassay
Special Characteristics
RF-LT is not interfered significantly by other serum components. The value is determined by using Rheumatoid Arthritis Serum 1st British Standard (NIBSC) as the primary standard.
Principle of the Method
When a sample is mixed with Buffer and Latex Reagent, rheumatoid factor in the sample combines specifically with the latex sensitized with human gamma-globulin in the Latex Reagent to yield an insoluble aggregate which causes increased turbidity in the solution. The degree of turbidity of solution can be measured optically and is proportional to the activity of rheumatoid factor in the patient's sample.
